Solheim Cup day two fourballs
Europe 9-6 USA

All the action as it happened from Saturday's fourballs in Malmo, Sweden.

Europe's Annika Sorenstam and Suzann Pettersen snatched a crucial point in sensational fashion with victory on the last green against America's Kelly Robbins and Laura Diaz.

Experienced Americans Beth Daniel and Juli Inkster demolished Europe's Ana-Belen Sanchez and Mhairi McKay to gain the first point of the afternoon.

Europe hit back with a win from Catriona Matthew and Janice Moodie over Wendy Ward and Rosie Jones.

But the pairing of Laura Davies and Sophie Gustafson were overhauled at the death in a tense match against Americans Kelli Kuehne and Cristie Kerr.

Europe won two of the morning foursomes and halved the other two matches to lead by three going into the fourballs.

(European names first)

Sorenstam/Pettersen won 1 up v Robbins/Diaz
A birdie from Annika Sorenstam on nine put the European pair in front for the second time. But after scrapping to hang on to their lead, the Scandinavian combination were reeled in by Laura Diaz on the 13th.

Diaz, though, left a putt agonisingly short on the 15th which would have put them 1-up with two to play.

The 22-year-old Suzann Pettersen then holed from 10 feet at the long 16th for birdie, matched by Kelly Robbins.

On the 17th, Diaz fired to five feet and holed her putt for a birdie three leaving Sorenstam to make a brave 15-footer to rescue a half after her partner hit a wayward drive.

But Diaz was in agony on 18 after missing from four feet following a stunning approach, allowing Pettersen to grab the birdie - and the victory - from 10 feet.

Sanchez/McKay lose by 5&4 to Daniel/Inkster
The American pair, who were rested for the morning's foursomes, powered to victory against a shell-shocked and struggling Sanchez and McKay.

Daniel and Inkster went ahead at the first and were never led as they closed out the match on the 14th.

Gustafson/Davies lose 2&1 to Kerr/Kuehne
In a nail-biting match, Europeans Laura Davies and Sophie Gustafson nudged in front at the 11th but were hauled back to level two holes later.

Davies blasted her second to 16 into the trees, and with Gustafson also struggling, the Americans pounced to take the lead with a Cristie Kerr birdie. And they clinically closed out the match on the 17th.

Matthew/Moodie win 4&3 against Ward/Jones
The Scottish pair of Catriona Matthew and Janice Moodie reached two-up by the seventh and were briefly pegged back before surging to a three-hole lead by the 14th from which point they were unstoppable.
