Europe won the Solheim Cup as Catriona Matthew earned the crucial point in her singles match against Rosie Jones in Sweden on Sunday.

Victories from Janice Moodie, Sophie Gustafson, Iben Tinning and Annika Sorenstam helped set up the triumph.

For the US, Juli Inkster beat Carin Koch, Michele Redman beat Ana-Belen Sanchez, and Laura Diaz beat Elisabeth Esterl.

The remaining matches left out on the course were conceded with the score counting towards the overall points tally.

Europe needed five points from the singles to win back the Solheim Cup for the third time since its inception in 1990.

Janice Moodie closed out the match at the 16th.

Koch lost by 5&4 to Inkster
Juli Inkster won the first point for USA.

Gustafson won 5&4 against Bowie
Sophie Gustafson won Europe's second point.

Tinning won 2&1 against Ward
Denmark's Iben Tinning took Europe closer to victory.

Sanchez lost 3&2 to Redman
Ana-Belen Sanchez struggled against Michele Redman.

Matthew won 3&1 against Jones
Catriona Matthew holed the winning putt on 17.

Sorenstam wins 3 & 2 against Stanford
Annika Sorenstam took Europe to the brink.

Pettersen lost to Kerr (concession)

Davies beat Mallon (concession)

Esterl lost 5&4 to Diaz

McKay beat Daniel (concession)

Meunier-Lebouc beat Robbins (concession)
