Solheim Cup day two foursomes
Europe 7-4 USA

All the action as it happened from Saturday's foursomes in Malmo, Sweden.

Sophie Gustafson and Suzann Pettersen won the first point in the morning's foursomes with victory over Kelli Kuehne and Cristie Kerr.

World number one Annika Sorenstam and partner Carin Koch followed it up with a win over Wendy Ward and Heather Bowie.

Both teams shared the spoils in the last two matches as Elisabeth Esterl and Iben Tinning halved with Angela Stanford and Michele Redman, and Catriona Matthew and Janice Moodie halved with Meg Mallon and Kelly Robbins.

European captain Catrin Nilsmark dispensed with England's Laura Davies for the first session since the Solheim Cup began in 1990.

(European names first)

Gustafson/Pettersen beat Kuehne/Kerr by 2&1
The Europeans earned the first point of day two after fighting back from one down twice inside the first five holes. They took the lead for the first time with a par at the seventh and doubled the advantage at the ninth.

The Americans won the 10th to steady the ship but Gustafson and Pettersen won two holes in a row to reach three up. Kuehne and Kerr pulled two holes back but a fluffed chip on 17 handed the match to the Scandinavian pairing.

Esterl/Tinning halve with Stanford/Redman
Elisabeth Esterl and Iben Tinning halved their match on the last after a tough battle. The teams were inseparable until the Americans took the lead with a birdie to a bogey at the long ninth.

Europe hit back immediately and forged a lead of their own at 14 before that was quickly snuffed out. America went ahead again on 16 but a stunning approach to a few inches from Esterl on 17 took the match down the last.

Sorenstam/Koch beat Ward/Bowie by 3&2
The teams traded the lead early on before Swede's Annika Sorenstam and Carin Koch went one up at the ninth. They extended the lead to three up by the 12th before the Americans rescued a hole back at 14.

But the European pair remained in control and closed out the match on the 16th.

Moodie/Matthew halved with Mallon/Robbins
The Scottish pair of Catriona Matthew and Janice Moodie won the first hole beforehanding it back at the third. The Americans took the lead at the seventh but two European holes in a row handed back the initiative. The teams traded the lead on the back nine before sharing the points on the 18th.
