Beem joins Cologne field
Rich Beem plays his tee shot on the 18th in his final round at Hazeltine
Beem's win at Hazeltine came out of the blue
USPGA champion Rich Beem and Players' Championship winner Craig Perks have both confirmed their entry for next month's German Masters in Cologne.

Beem, a former car stereo and mobile phone salesman, was a shock winner of the year's final major championship nine days ago.

The big-hitting American is also on the list of entrants for the Australian Open in Melbourne in November.

Beem held off a late charge by Tiger Woods to win by a shot at Hazeltine after a closing four-under-par round of 68.

His uninhibited brand of attacking golf won a host of admirers, and he maintained his form with joint sixth place at the WGC-NEC Invitational last week.

New Zealand's Craig Perks
Perks' win at Sawgrass was his first US Tour title

Perks, 35, took the USPGA Tour by storm earlier in the year with victory in golf's unofficial 'fifth major', The Players' Championship at Sawgrass.

The US-based New Zealander chipped in at two of the last three holes to secure the richest prize in the game - a cool $1.08m (700,000).

Perks will make his European Tour debut in Cologne, where Open champion Ernie Els and two-time Masters winner Jose Maria Olazabal will also be in the field.

Els will be looking to extend his current lead at the top of the European money list, having already earned $2.04m (1.35m) on the continent this season.
