1658: RUGBY UNION - Flanker Stephen Ferris and centre Gordon D'Arcy are Ireland's two major injury concerns before the World Cup warm-up matches start on Saturday, reports BBC Sport. The pair will not be involved in Saturday's match against Scotland in Edinburgh and will probably also sit out the 13 August game against France.

1646: CYCLING - The inaugural USA Pro Cycling Challenge through the Rocky Mountains this month will feature the top three finishers from the Tour de France. Andy and Frank Schleck will join Tour winner Cadel Evans, an Australian who races for America-based BMC, in the weeklong Colorado race.

1636: FOOTBALL - Wigan's Mauro Boselli has returned to his former club Estudiantes in Argentina on a one-year loan deal, reports Sky Sports. The 26-year-old struggled to make an impact in the Premier League last year and failed to score in eight appearances.

1627: FOOTBALL - The Daily Star is suggesting that Inter Milan have accepted an offer from Manchester United for midfielder Wesley Sneijder. Reports in Italy suggest the player will now begin negotiations with United.

1617: BOXING - European lightweight champion Gavin Rees will face Derry Mathews in a rearranged title fight at the Newport Centre on 1 October, reports BBC Sport.

1612: FOOTBALL - Dundee United reject a fifth bid from Rangers for striker David Goodwillie despite the Ibrox club saying they matched Blackburn's offer for the player, reports BBC Sport.

1606: FOOTBALL - Former Nigeria captain Sunday Oliseh criticises Africa's qualifying system for the 2014 World Cup. For the first time since the 1990 finals, a series of play-off games will decide the continent's five qualifiers. "I think Africa is in trouble as I was very disappointed when I saw the format they made up," Oliseh told BBC Sport. "Let's not forget what happened when Algeria played Egypt in (2010) qualifying, when there was fighting, yet now we will have five play-offs."

1450: FOOTBALL - Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has admitted he is homesick and has not ruled out a move back to his native Italy, the ex-Inter Milan striker stating that Manchester is "not to his taste". 1335: FOOTBALL - Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes new 19-year-old defensive signing Phil Jones has the talent to break into the first team immediately, reports Press Association. "You might think he might not play, but the ability he's got and the determination he's got, he could quite easily play. He's the future obviously, but he could certainly come in right away," said Ferguson.

1326: FOOTBALL - Rangers have stepped up their interest in Arsenal striker Rhys Murphy, skysports.com understands. Apparently, Murphy travelled north of the border over the weekend and linked up with the Scottish club.
