2000: FOOTBALL - Fifa president Sepp Blatter has opened the way for goalline technology to be implemented in leagues from next season, as long as the International Football Association Board approves an "accurate and affordable" system when it meets in London in March 2012.
1950: OLYMPICS - The Daily Telegraph has published pictures of the London 2012 Olympic medals. Designed by British artist David Watkins, they depict Nike, the Greek Goddess of Victory, stepping out of the Parthenon to arrive in the host city.

After safely completing the dive Daley described the pool as "cold" but believes the atmosphere in the 17500 capacity arena will be "awesome".

1835: FOOTBALL - Manchester United issue a statement to confirm Javier Hernandez spent Tuesday night in hospital. A club spokeswoman told ManUtd.com: "Chicharito sustained a mild concussion during training last night. We have taken all the necessary precautions, which included an overnight stay in hospital. The manager will give further updates in due course."

1823: RUGBY LEAGUE - Hull Kingston Rovers coach Justin Morgan says Crusaders' decision to leave Super League next season will increase the cost of British players. 1600: OLYMPICS - Double Olympic medal-winning swimmer Nick Gillingham criticises the British Olympic Association for offering just two pairs of tickets to former Olympians, preventing him from taking his family to watch his event. Gillingham also says too many corporate tickets have been made available and former Olympians deserve better treatment, dismissing the BOA's offer as "tokenism".

Press Association report that Michael Stow, head of science and medicine at UK Anti-Doping, said - in a document seen by The Times - that substances such as cocaine and ecstasy should not be treated in the same way as performance-enhancing drugs, with respect to sanctions.
1100: CRICKET - India pace bowler Zaheer Khan did not take part in the tourist's training session at Trent Bridge on Wednesday morning, reports Press Association. Brown told the club's website: "Injuries made it difficult to maintain the high standards I require of myself." 0920: CRICKET - England coach Andy Flower accuses the International Cricket Council (ICC) of lacking leadership over its failure to issue clear rules about the use of the Decision Review System, reports Agence France Presse. Under existing rules, either side in a series can veto the use of the DRS to determine lbw decisions, something India has elected to do in its ongoing series against England. "They (the ICC) are the world governing body and they should lead. I don't think it's unfair to say they haven't led on this topic," said Flower.
0915: FOOTBALL - Birmingham chairman Peter Pannu has reveals criminal charges brought against Blues owner Carson Yeung are hampering efforts to acquire new investment in the club. City's parent company, Birmingham International Holdings Limited (BIHL), have been unable to trade on the Hong Kong stock exchange since Yeung's arrest last month. "Carson has been trying hard to find new investors but the money laundering charges understandably meant that the progress has been slow," Pannu told the Birmingham Mail.
