Newcastle and Leeds saw their bottom-of-the-table clash further delayed

The cold weather is continuing to disrupt Britain's sporting schedule.

Rangers' Scottish Premier League match at St Johnstone on Wednesday has been postponed, while Tuesday's Doncaster-Ipswich Championship game is off.

Four Tuesday fixtures remain in both the League One and League Two programmes after the pitch at Lincoln was deemed unplayable.

The Blue Square Bet Premier matches at Grimsby and Gateshead also fell victim to the cold on Tuesday morning.

Newcastle's rugby union Premiership game against Leeds at Kingston Park was called off for a second time on Monday.

The game was initially due to take place on Boxing Day and was first put back to Monday but the pitch remained frozen, leaving no option but to postpone the match once more.

It was the third Premiership game to fall victim to the weather after the Boxing Day games between Gloucester and Northampton and Bath v Exeter were postponed.

In horse racing, the King George VI Chase at Kempton has been further delayed until 15 January with the Welsh National now on 8 January.

Tuesday's meetings at Catterick and Leicester, along with cards at Kelso on Wednesday and Haydock on Thursday, have also been abandoned.

Boxing Day's football fixtures were heavily hit with two Premier League games, five Championship games and two Scottish Premier League among those called off.

The only game in League One to be played was Huddersfield v Hartlepool, while in League Two, the game between Wycombe and Hereford was the only survivor.
