Rachel Chandler retained her crown as Guernsey's ladies' pool champion at the 2008 Island Pool Championship.

With the final against Ruth Vaudin all-square after four games, Chandler finally moved ahead before taking the match 7-4.

Both players had won their semi-finals 6-2 to progress to the final, with Chandler overcoming Sian Jones and Vaudin beating Sophie Dorfner.

Jones and Dorfner both came from 4-0 down to win their quarter-finals 5-4.

Jones beat Dorota Piskorska while Dorfner got the better of Lianne Priaulx.

The two finalists enjoyed easier passages to the last four, with Vaudin beating Denise Corbet 5-1 and Chandler running out a 5-0 winner over Shanine Opie.

Both semis were closer, with frames being traded by each player in turn to begin with until Vaudin and last year's champion Chandler both pulled away to win 6-2.
