Pearson achieves landmark feat
Second Women's Test, Sydney, day three: Australia 134 & 163-4; England 187

You dream of taking 10 wickets in a game
Lucy Pearson

Lucy Pearson became the first England player to take 10 wickets in a Women's Ashes Test, but Australia ended the day in a good position at the Bankstown Oval.

The left-armer followed up her first innings figures of seven for 51 by dismissing Belinda Clark, Kris Britt and Melanie Jones.

Australia slumped to 49 for four before an unbroken stand between Lisa Sthalekar and Alex Blackwell carried them to a lead of 110 by close of play.

Sthalekar reached 65 not out, with her partner on 51, and the Southern Stars will now be looking to try and complete a 2-0 series win on the final day.

England let an opportunity slip, after starting the day on 151 for four, as they added only 36 for their last six wickets.

Neither Claire Taylor (45) nor Lydia Greenway (31) could add to their overnight score as both fell to Emma Twining, who also removed skipper Clare Connor for three.

Laura Newton made 16 before being bowled by Julie Hayes as England had to settle for a first innings lead of 53.

Pearson turned the screw by trapping Britt lbw for three and then had Clark caught by Sarah Collyer at mid-wicket for 16 as the Australian captain mis-timed an attempted pull.

The home side's problems increased when Greenway caught Karen Rolton off Newton for 15 and Jones edged a ball from Pearson to wicket-keeper Taylor.

It was England's last success despite Connor ringing the changes with her bowlers.
