Volunteering is seriously hungry business |
The Liverpool Muslim Ladies (LML) have been a mainstay of Your Game's two visits to Merseyside.
The organisation sent seven volunteers to the Liverpool festival at the Litherland Sports Park in Sefton, helping out with various duties to ensure the day ran smoothly.
LML director Zaynab Ahmed tells Your Game about their experiences and blossoming new friendships.
Having played in the first legacy of the Your Game tournament in 2006, Liverpool Muslim Ladies had a fantastic opportunity playing a vital role in this year's tournament in Merseyside.
We had the chance to work alongside KICK IT OUT and the referees to co-ordinate matches as assistant referees, keeping score and negotiating points for fair play.
Each team member from LML covered their own pitch side - the entertainment from 1Xtra had the girls dancing while keeping score!
 | What a brilliant day - nice one lads! |
The great thing for us was being able to share our experience from last year's tournament and the benefits we gained to other teams, as well as being re-united with old friends from last year's trial.
We've become close friends with staff from all parts of the BBC; members of Asian Network, 1Xtra and many more, which is what the YG tournament is all about.
The atmosphere was buzzing in Liverpool; live acts, entertainment and football combined is a winning combination.
The Asian Network were commentating during the final football matches, making the knockout matches more intense and enjoyable to watch.
What a brilliant day - nice one lads!
