English referee Howard Webb has not been chosen to officiate either of the World Cup semi-finals.

Uzbekistan's Ravshan Irmatov will take charge of Uruguay-Netherlands in Cape Town, while Hungary's Viktor Kassai will referee Germany v Spain in Durban.

But the 38-year-old Webb could still referee the final as he is one of 10 officials that Fifa has retained.

The referee for the final will not be announced until after the semi-finals have taken place.

Webb, along with assistants Darren Cann and Michael Mullarkey, took charge of Spain's group game against Switzerland and Italy's group defeat by Slovakia.

He was one of 19 referees retained by Fifa after the group stages and took charge of Brazil's win over Chile in the last 16, but was not given a quarter-final match.

An Englishman has not refereed a World Cup final since 1974, when Jack Taylor oversaw West Germany's victory over the Netherlands.
