South Korea coach Huh Jung-moo praised his side's composure after they hit back to draw 2-2 with Nigeria.

The result means South Korea make it out of the group stages at a World Cup on foreign soil for the first time and they will now meet Uruguay.

"We conceded the first goal and that was a tough situation, but the players stayed cool," he said.

"I am very proud of my players. They were not intimidated and they played to their full potential."

Nigeria's Kalu Uche put the Super Eagles ahead after 12 minutes with a tap-in before Lee Jung-Soo equalised with seven minutes to go in the first half.

After the break, Park Chu-Young made it 2-1 to the Koreans from a free-kick.

Yakubu converted a 69th-minute penalty to level matters, but South Korea held on for the draw which sees them safely through to the last 16.

"During the match we conceded the first goal and then Nigeria struck the post," Huh said.

"When we were leading the game, we allowed the penalty which we should have avoided. Those were the critical moments."

The draw means South Korea progress through the group stage for the only the second time, with their only previous foray into the knockout stages coming at the 2002 World Cup, which they jointly hosted with Japan.

"The merit goes to the players and to the coaching staff, not to me," Huh said.

"The players and the staff really became one and worked together very hard to get our goal of reaching this stage."

Captain Park Ji-Sung added: "Our goal was to reach the last 16.

"I'm very happy we accomplished this. All of the players know how important this is."
