South Korea coach Huh Jung-Moo insisted "thorough preparation" was the key to his side's 2-0 win over Greece in their opening World Cup game.

Huh Jung-Moo's side outclassed Greece in Port Elizabeth to put them in a strong position in group B, which also contains Argentina and Nigeria.

"The first game is always difficult, my team played well, we prepared thoroughly," said Huh Jung-Moo.

"If we had been a little calmer we could have perhaps scored more goals."

South Korea, World Cup semi-finalists when they co-hosted the competition in 2002, proved far too lively for Otto Rehhagel's Euro 2004 champions.

And Huh Jung-Moo said he had wanted his side to push harder to score more goals.

"In terms of scoring goals, it could have been a little bit better for us," said Huh Jung-Moo.

"We said we shouldn't sit on our laurels and we should attack.

"I said at halftime that we would have more opportunities and we should take advantage."

Captain Park Ji-Sung was instrumental and scored the second goal with a neat chipped finish.

"This was my third World Cup goal and it makes me very honoured but ultimately it's down to the team winning," said Park, who played 26 times for Manchester United last season.

"We had a good result today, and as this is the first World Cup in Africa I'm thrilled."
