Petkovic did not play a single game in the qualification campaign |
Serbia and Montenegro coach Ilija Petkovic has called up his son Dusan to replace injured striker Mirko Vucinic in the World Cup squad. The 26-year-old midfielder's inclusion is a shock as he played no part in the team's qualifying campaign.
He has played 12 times for the national team but never in official matches.
Vucinic, who plays for Italian side Lecce, pulled out of the World Cup on Saturday after damaging knee ligaments in an under-21 match.
His national coach refused to elaborate on the decision to name his own son as a replacement.
He will not be the only son of a coach at the tournament - Zlatka Kranjcar recently included son Niko in his Croatian squad.
