Costa Rica defender Gilberto Martinez will play no further part in the World Cup after suffering a leg injury. He damaged a tendon in his left leg during his side's 4-2 loss to Germany in the tournament's opening match.
Martinez was ruled out after undergoing a scan on Saturday afternoon to determine the extent of the injury.
The experienced 26-year-old is now set to return to Italy where he will begin his rehabilitation with his club Brescia.
