Coventry City unbeaten in Midland Women's Combination

Women's Football

Coventry City remain unbeaten in the Midland Women's Combination League after cruising to a 6-0 victory at Loughborough Foxes.

They stretched their lead at the top to 11 points, having won 13 out of 14 league games.

Sophie Newnes scored the opener on her debut while Emily Hanson scored her fifth goal in four games.

Leanne McKenna, Helen Dermody, Natasha Lynch and Hazannah Parnell were also on the scoresheet to take their tally to 44 goals.

Coventry are next in action on Sunday when they entertain Wolves, the only side to take points off them so far with a 0-0 draw in October.

They will be expecting a tougher test than the victory over Loughborough and will be aiming to make up for last season's title disappointment, losing out to Derby County after a 4-2 defeat by Wolves ended their title hopes.
