England women's Katie Chapman joins Chicago Red Stars
Chapman has won 73 England caps since her debut in 2000
England international Katie Chapman will play for the Chicago Red Stars in the 2010 women's professional season, the American club has confirmed.
The 27-year-old will link up with former Arsenal teammate Karen Carney and ex-Gunners coach Emma Hayes, who is head coach of the Red Stars.
"I have watched Katie play since she was 15," Hayes said.
"She will bring steel and consistency to the midfield and she is a wonderful human being and teammate."
There are already five England players in the newly formed professional league, which ran from the end of March to late August in its first season in 2009.
Carney joined Chicago at the start of last term, Kelly Smith and Alex Scott are with Boston Breakers, Anita Asante plays for New Jersey's Sky Blue FC and Eniola Aluko is at St Louis Athletica.
