Everton have their sights set on Champions League progress

Everton Ladies began their Uefa Champions League qualifying campaign with a 3-1 win against FC Osijek in Croatia on Thursday.

The Blues went behind before goals from Toni Duggan, a Vanesa Zlosa own goal and Blues captain Fara Williams gave Mo Marley's side the perfect outcome.

"We struggled in the first half," Marley told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"But in the second half, it was more what we're about and we were excellent and totally dominated the game."

Everton top Group G on goal difference ahead of Strommen of Norway and another victory against FC Levadia Tallinn of Estonia on Saturday would put the Blues a step closer to the Champions League group stages.

But previous experience tells the Everton manager her side will have avoid any slip-ups at the weekend and they must be fit and ready for every game.

"They come thick and fast and it'll be a case of who the fittest team is over the course of these three games.

"The Croatian team tired very quickly in the second-half and that's when we capitalised," said Marley.

"We'd like to think that the fitness levels that the players do posses will play a key part in this whole competition."
