Sylvans win Women's Knock-Out Cup

Sylvans are making a habit of winning the Knock-Out Cup

Sylvans won the Women's Knock-Out Cup for the fourth time in five years, with a 2-0 victory over St Martin's, who had been chasing the treble.

Eleanor Holden, who has recently returned from injury, took on four players to open the scoring.

And Becky Warren scored the decisive second goal as Saints made up for finishing third in the league.

Of Holden, captain Anna Robert said: "That's what we've been missing most of the season, an outlet on the right."

In an uneventful first half, Sylvans' keeper Kayleigh Marquis tipped a free-kick onto the bar.

But they came out brighter in the second half and quickly scored through Holden, who received the ball from Rochelle Vaudin on the right before her mazy run and finish.

The Saints' dominance grew and it was no surprise when they doubled their lead through Warren with 15 minutes left, after a strong but unopposed run from Lisa Sylvester.
