York City midfielder Neil Barrett is confident the Minstermen will rise to the challenge in the Blue Square Premier play-offs this season.

With one match to play, York have already secured their place in the top five of the table.

Barrett told BBC Radio York: "We do tend to play our better football against the better teams.

"We've had a fantastic season. It's up to us to continue it and make the play off final."

York City end their league season at Blue Square Premier champions Stevenage on 24 April.

It's up to us now to take it on to the next level and I'm sure there's more than enough in that dressing room to do that

Neil Barrett

Barrett said: "We look forward to the play-offs and to Stevenage.

"We want to win every game. It doesn't matter who we're playing. The fact that we're dropping points against teams at the bottom scrapping may mean we've got to go out there and scrap as well, before we play the nice football.

"We've played all the top teams, and we've played very well against the top teams.

"I don't see any reason why whoever we play in the play off semi final we can't beat them and beat whoever is in the final as well. "

Barrett said there is a lot of belief amongt the players that they can do well.

"I saw how York did last year and it must be a massive improvement on what the fans saw last year and that's great.

"But it's up to us now to take it on to the next level and I'm sure there's more than enough in that dressing room to do that."
