Foyle succeeds Colin Walker, who was sacked on Friday, as York boss
Harrogate Town manager Neil Aspin thinks new York City boss Martin Foyle will do a good job at the club.
The pair played together at Port Vale for eight years and Aspin said Foyle has the right qualities as a manager.
He told BBC Radio York: "Martin was a good player. He knew the game well as a centre forward.
"He's an intelligent player and a good professional. He looked after himself and I think he'll be a good asset for York and I think he'll do a good job."
Aspin added: "I wish him all the best. It's a nice part of the world to be going to, York. It's a big football club and I wish him every success."
Although Aspin has never experienced Foyle as a manager he thinks he has the right personality for the role.
He knows the leagues, especially the lower leagues and he will have contacts

"He's the same age as me so I've never actually played under him, but I can imagine his standards will be quite high and he'll expect things to be done the right way," said Aspin.
"I don't think he'll be the type who just rants and raves for the sake of it. I think he's knowledgeable about the game and I think he'll do a good job."
Aspin also said Foyle should have good contacts within the game.
"He's had experience at this level. He was assistant manager at Wrexham and obviously he's had a few years in charge of Port Vale," he added.
"He knows the leagues, especially the lower leagues and he will have contacts.
"Where he's living as well, down in the Midlands, you're surrounded by clubs so I believe he'll have a lot of good contacts for York, and hopefully he might ship the odd player to us."
