York City manager Colin Walker will take his time to find a replacement for winger Martyn Woolford.
The player joined Scunthorpe last week for an undisclosed fee and Walker has been given some of that money to strengthen his team.
Walker told BBC Radio York: "I had seven people out yesterday watching different players at different games.
"I may have to use the loan system but I'm certainly not going to rush in to just getting a straight replacement."
Walker admitted he did have a player in mind but he had missed out on his target.
"I've been trying to get Brendan McGill to come to the football club for three months now even before the Martyn leaving.
"Unfortunately now he's decided to go to the Republic of Ireland and play for Bohemians. So he was a target of mine."
Despite missing out Walker still said he will not be rushed into signing anybody.
"For me to replace Martyn Woolford - that would probably cost me more than we got in because I think Martyn was a tremendous player," he said.

"He was my player of the year last year. He always in my eyes had the potential to go on and on and from a personal point of few I'm glad he has.
"But he's gone now. Everybody is happy. It's a win win situation but I'll only bring the right person in when it's right."
