Former Crawley Town striker Daryl Clare has rejected the chance to join League One side Yeovil Town. The 27-year-old informed Glovers boss Steve Thompson on Tuesday that he wanted to stay closer to his Lincolnshire home for family reasons.
He exercised his right to leave Crawley last week after the club halved their players' wages to cut costs.
Since then, Lincoln City have pulled out of a move for Clare after they could not agree personal terms.
City boss Keith Alexander held talks with him, but told the Lincolnshire Echo: "I was certainly interested in bringing him to Sincil Bank, but only for the right price."
Clare's career has taken in spells at Grimsby, Northampton (twice), Cheltenham, Boston (twice) and Chester, before he joined Crawley as their record signing last summer.
He won the Conference title with both Boston and Chester.
