Clare joined Crawley from Boston for a club record fee in 2005 |
Crawley Town's record signing Daryl Clare has quit the crisis-hit club. Clare joined from Boston in September but has exercised his right to leave after Crawley halved the players' wages to cut costs.
The 27-year-old has already attracted interested from League Two clubs, including Peterborough.
Crawley have boosted their squad by signing Millwall teenagers Jack McLeod, Michael Bostwick and Dean Pooley on work experience.
Clare did not appear for training on Thursday, and boss John Hollins has allowed him to talk to the several clubs who are chasing him.
The Red Devils were forced to put their entire squad up for sale last week.
Midfielder Simon Wormull has already left for Lewes, while utility man Ian Simpemba is a target for Crawley's Conference rivals Aldershot Town.
