Wycombe Wanderers striker Jon-Paul Pittman hopes he has made his case for a place in the starting line-up.

The 23-year-old stepped off the bench to grab his side's second goal in the 2-0 win over Morecambe at the weekend.

He told BBC Three Counties Radio: "Luckily it happened today but I don't always want to be coming off the bench and having to make that difference.

"I'd like to start and see if I can make an impact from the beginning of the game."

Waddock opted for a front pairing of Ben Strevens and Scott Rendell, with the latter opening the scoring from the penalty spot.

The result meant Wycombe made a winning start to life in League Two following last season's relegation, but the performance left a lot of room for improvement.

"It's nice to start the season off with a win," said Pittman.

"We weren't so happy with our display in the second-half but it's early days yet.

"We're still getting our match fitness and we're still developing as players so we'll work on that."

The Chairboys are next in action on Tuesday when they host Championship side Millwall at Adams Park.
