The 30-year-old signs an extension to his current deal to remain at Adams Park until the summer of 2012.

Doherty has made 93 appearances for the Wanderers, and has been included in the League Two team of the season twice.

"I spoke to him at the end of last season, and I'm delighted to say he's agreed to sign for a further two years," Wycombe boss Peter Taylor said.

Taylor told the club website: "Since I joined the club, a year ago, he has been an important player and in my future plans he remains a very important player.
