Ashton aims to strengthen Wycombe

Wycombe Wanderers

New Wycombe chief executive Mark Ashton has told club supporters that he wants to raise money to enable manager Peter Taylor to strengthen his squad.

Ashton started his new role at Adams Park on Monday, and told the club website: "I am delighted to be here.

"I see this job as a great opportunity to move the club forward," he added.

"I want to find ways of reducing debt and increasing revenue so that the manager has the ability to bring in better players."

Ashton was previously chief executive at Watford, but as well as taking on the Wycombe roll, has also been appointed as non-executive director at London Wasps, who are also based at Adams Park.

But he does not believe that the roles will conflict with each other.

"I don't see it as a problem at all. In fact quite the opposite. I think it will help to have a foot in both camps."
