Easter was left out of the Wycombe squad for the trip to Bradford |
Wycombe boss Paul Lambert said he left striker Jermaine Easter out for the 1-0 win at Bradford because he "told me he wasn't in the right frame of mind". "He was disappointed that he wasn't able to move to Plymouth before the transfer window closed," Lambert said.
"I spoke to him in the week and he said he didn't feel he could play today.
"He's still contracted to the club, he hasn't put in a transfer request and there are no deals lined up. But he needs to get his head sorted."
Lambert added: "He's been terrific for me - he's a brilliant goalscorer and I respect his decision, but we felt it was in the club's best interests if he didn't play.
"He needs time to get back into the right frame of mind, but this doesn't mean he won't play for the club again."
Wales international Easter has scored 28 goals in 70 league and cup appearances since joining Wycombe from Stockport in January 2006, and hit the headlines last season by scoring six goals in seven Carling Cup appearances as they reached the semi-finals before losing to Chelsea.
