Mooney chooses to leave Wycombe

Wycombe Wanderers captain Tommy Mooney is leaving Adams Park after rejecting their offer of a new contract.

The 35-year-old striker scored 29 goals in 87 league appearances during his two seasons with the Chairboys, after joining from Oxford in 2005.

In total, he has scored 174 goals in 603 league games for 10 clubs.

"We're sorry to see him go, but we understand his desire to play regular first-team football," managing director Steve Hayes told the club website.

"But no player can be guaranteed first-team football, especially now we have so many top-quality strikers in the squad."
