Former Swansea City midfielder Kristian O'Leary is keen to stay at Wrexham for a promotion drive next season.
The 33-year-old has signed a one-month trial deal at the Racecourse, but will discuss future options.
"It's a shame that Wrexham are where they are, but they hope to have a good push next season and I'd like to be part of it," he told BBC Sport Wales.
Port Talbot-born O'Leary left Swansea earlier this year after nearly 15 years with the senior side.
He made over 300 appearances for the Swans after his debut under Jan Molby in 1995.
"I've been training up here for about three weeks now," said O'Leary after Tuesday's 2-2 draw with AFC Wimbledon.
"I was offered a short-term contract last week and signed until the end of the season.
"It suits both parties at the minute, it's been a long time since I had regular football.
"We'll sit down at the end of the month and see what happens."
