Nathan Fairhurst is in negotiations with Wrexham manager Dean Saunders about making his loan stay at the Racecourse ground permanent.
The central midfielder is out of contract at Preston North End but has been offered a new Deepdale deal.
Wrexham also want the 19-year-old who scored twice in 20 appearances since arriving at the Racecourse in November.
Saunders hopes he can help inspire Wrexham out of the Blue Square Premier and back into the Football League.
