Chris Llewellyn scored Wrexham's final Football League goal

Former Welsh international Chris Llewellyn insists he would consider staying at relegated Wrexham.

Llewellyn wants to "give a bit back to the club" after being an regular member of the team that lost Wrexham its 87-year Football League status.

The out-of-contract 28-year-old is wanted by league clubs but will first have talks with boss Brian Little.

Llewellyn said: "I would seriously consider staying if I'm wanted as I've got a bit to prove after this season."

Experienced Llewellyn, in his second spell at The Racecourse, has been a virtual ever-present for Wrexham in their season to forget.

His third goal of the season in Wrexham's 4-1 win at Lincoln City on Saturday is the club's final Football League goal before their drop into non-league.

Llewellyn is one of ten out-of-contract Wrexham players that include former Wales striker Neil Roberts, Welsh international defender Steve Evans, fans favourite Danny Williams and highly-rated youngster Matty Done.

"I am out of contract this summer and I haven't got a clue what the future holds," said Llewellyn, who has been linked with a move to promoted League Two side Peterborough United.

"But I, like all the other out-of-contract players, will meet the manager in the week.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed myself at Wrexham and my family are settled in the area so I would have to think long and hard about staying.

"I'd seriously consider it if the offer was right and the club want me because I want to give a bit back to the club.

"I don't see there's a stigma about playing in non-league.

"Obviously the Football League is where every player wants to be but I think Wrexham have a good chance of bouncing back next season."

Llewellyn scored on the final day of last season against Boston United to inspire a dramatic great escape from the drop.

But despite scoring in an emphatic 4-2 win at Lincoln, there was no happy ending this time as Wrexham were relegated two weeks ago and finish the season even points from safety.

"It was one of our best performances," said Llewellyn. "It was too little, too late but we wanted to go out with a bang."

Wrexham scored more than two goals in a game for the first time this season at Sincil Bank.

Levi Mackin and Llewellyn scored a goal each either side of Wes Baynes' personal double.

But manager Little was left bemoaning the defensive howlers that allowed Lincoln to score.

Wrexham centre-back Steve Evans scored an embarrassing own-goal before a defensive mix-up allowed Ben Wright to score for Lincoln in the last minute.

"I was pleased we've scored four goals and we have some positives from players who have a future with us," said Little.

"But, on the other hand, we've conceded the two worst goals I've seen for a long, long time.

"Sometimes we do the stupidest things and as a manager it is difficult to legislate for that."
