Carey was left disappointed with his players |
Under-fire boss Brian Carey has vowed to battle on after Wrexham's fourth defeat in a row has left the club languishing in the bottom two. Shrewsbury's Michael Symes got the only goal midway through the second half to seal a 1-0 derby win at the Racecourse.
But Carey said: "You look at the players performance today, they didn't give what they're capable of giving.
"As regards for myself, I will keep battling away and what will happen, will happen."
The result leaves Wrexham two points adrift of safety with a game in hand on against Wycombe on Wednesday.
But Carey admits his side will have to improve on Sunday's display.

"The first goal was going to be vital and we didn't get it today," he said.
"When Shrewsbury got it, we didn't respond well enough and we resulting in booting the ball long and not playing the way we can play and that's what's disappointing.
"I thought we shaded the first half in terms of chances but the second half didn't happen and we got bogged down in the type of game that it was.
"We didn't impose ourselves in the game whatsoever and we've given ourselves a mountain to climb again.
"We are giving stupid goals away week after week but that's the situation we're in but we've got to battle through it.
"I know we can (do it), but we've got to start doing it quickly."
