McEvilly is a popular figure with fans at the Racecourse |
Lee McEvilly's expected move from Wrexham to Bradford City has fallen through because of medical concerns. The Northern Ireland striker had been poised to join Bradford on a free transfer subject to the results of Monday's medical test.
But Bradford say they called off the deal because of doubts whether a bone in McEvilly's foot had healed properly.
Wrexham, though, have no such concerns over the 24-year-old's fitness and have signed him on a new two-year contract.
McEvilly's debut season at Wrexham was cut short in April after he broke the same bone in his foot for the second time in four months.
Bradford manager Colin Todd said the results of scan on the problem foot raised enough doubts to convince him to end his interest in the burly striker.
"We were concerned about an old injury to his foot which has resulted in it being pinned and we are not prepared to take a risk with him," Todd told the club's website.
