Wrexham manager Denis Smith's anguish at a 2-1 FAW Premier Cup final loss to Swansea at the Racecourse was eased by good financial news at the club. Local car dealer Neville Dickens' exclusivity agreement with the administrators of the troubled club gives Smith hope for a better future.
"The club is very close to safety now," Smith told BBC Sport Wales.
"There are still obstacles but this is another step forward. In the summer we can start to build a good club here."

Smith was annoyed at a poor first half-display from his side that saw them 2-0 down at the break.
"We gave it a go in the second half, but we have to play for 90 minutes," said Smith.
"I had to say at half-time what I'd said before the game started - but the second time it was said a lot more forcibly.
"Those first 45 were a poor imitation of what we can be, we got ourselves into a hole that we couldn't dig out of.
"This is a very young side, they've learnt some things but there are going to be a lot of games like that."
