Walters has scored five goal for Wrexham this season |
Wrexham's FAW Premier Cup semi-final win over TNS came at a hefty price with Jon Walters and Dean Bennett joining the Racecourse casualty list. Midfielder Bennett faces two weeks out with an ankle injury, while striker Walters could be out for a month with a suspected fractured cheekbone.
Walters' injury leaves Wrexham with loan signing Juan Ugarte as their only striker with League experience.
Lee McEvilly is still out injured and youngster Jamie Reed is out on loan.
Recent loan signing Sam Williams has not yet played in the Football League, while youth product Marc Williams made his senior debut last month.
"Jon's injury was a nasty one and leaves us short on attacking options," said Wrexham assistant manager Kevin Russell.
Walters' withdrawal early in the second half against TNS on Wednesday saw centre back Dennis Lawrence pushed forward as a makeshift centre forward.
The 6ft 7in Trinidad and Tobago international proved a handful but he is unlikely to fill that role again in Saturday's League Two match with Wycombe, where new boys Williams and Ugarte will form a new partnership.
Basque striker Ugarte, who left Wrexham for Crewe last summer, showed glimpses of his scoring prowess on Wednesday with a delicate lob two minutes from time which took a thrilling semi-final into extra time.
It was his first Wrexham goal since last season's FAW Premier Cup final defeat to Swansea, and the second-half substitute then scored in the penalty shoot-out.
"It was a very tough game. We worked very hard, but TNS worked hard too," said Ugarte.
"At least we got the win and we're in the final so we can look forward to that.
"I thought I did OK for my goal, in fact I thought all are goals were good."
