Morrell will be out of contract |
Denis Smith will have to prepare for life in the Second Division knowing he will have little if any money for new players. The Wrexham boss, who has guided the Dragons the promotion, has been told that the crash-strapped club do not have any money available.
That means Smith will only be able to bring new faces to the club on free transfers.
"There's no money for new players. I know that money doesn't guarantee success, but it helps," said the Wrexham manager.
On top of his financial difficulties, Smith will also have to contend with 15 of his players being out of contract at the end of the season.
Leading goal scorer Andy Morrell and strike partner Lee Trundle, as well as Andy Dibble, Paul Whitfield, Jim Whitley all become free agents at the seasons end.
