An own goal from Leicester defender Cian Bolger secured Wolves' place in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.
Bolger inadvertently steered a Scott Malone cross past his own keeper to hand the visitors a 3-2 victory.
Wolves took the lead after 23 minutes when James Davis met a Malone corner, but by half time they trailed to goals from Nathan Hicks and Tom Parkes.
Sam Winnall restored parity with an angled shot, before the decisive own goal 15 minutes from time.
Wolves were also grateful for the efforts of goalkeeper Richard Woolley who made a string of fine saves in front of a crowd of almost 500 at the Walkers Stadium.
