Murray will wait for Wolves place

Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray says he knows he faces a fight to win back his place at Molineux now he is working his way back to full fitness with Hereford.

"I'm at Hereford until 6 December when my loan spell is up," Murray told the club website. "After that, who knows?"

"It's going to be very hard to get in through Wayne Hennessey or Carl Ikeme losing form. I just have to be ready."

Murray, now 27, played his first senior game for 18 months as the Bulls beat Cheltenham on Saturday.

The former England Under-21 keeper is splitting his week between training with Wolves and spending the build-up to Hereford's games with them. And he admits that he has been enjoying watching the battle for the current number one spot between Hennessey and Ikeme.

"No-one's been sulking. Everyone's working hard," Murray said.

It was the third time I've come back from a long lay-off, you think 'will my knee hold out?'

"When I played, Wayne and Carl supported me and when Wayne was playing, we supported him. Now Carl's playing we've all got to support him."

"I'd love to play but I'm genuinely pleased for Carl. He's a good guy."

But Murray's main priority is getting back to full fitness following such a long time out with injury. And he admits he had to get over a mental hurdle when he played his first game for Hereford.

"That was harder than making my debut because it was the third time I've come back from a long lay-off," he said. "You think 'Will my knee hold out?' and, if not, 'What is going to happen?'"

"I spoke to my psychologist before Saturday's game because I have those fears and apprehensions. But you have to stay positive."

Murray is set for his second appearance for the Bulls in Saturday's home game with Northampton Town.
