Keepers will stay put - McCarthy

Mick McCarthy
McCarthy's side currently lead the Championship by six points

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy says none of his goalkeepers is going anywhere as competition for places increases after Matt Murray's return to full fitness.

Murray has joined Hereford on a month's loan to get some match practice, leaving Carl Ikeme and Wayne Hennessey contesting the number one spot.

"No-one will be leaving. Not a chance," McCarthy told the Wolves website.

"I've never known a situation where everyone's happy but that's what competition for places is all about."

Ikeme is the current first-choice goalkeeper, keeping Wales international Hennessey on the bench.

McCarthy knows players are desperate to get back into the side but says they will have to be patient.

"They have to be ready to come back in and that applies to Wayne and to Neill Collins - who was brilliant for the reserves on Tuesday - and that's the attitude I want to see.

"We're trying to get promoted so why would we dilute our squad?"

After months out of action Murray has joined the Bulls to get some much-needed football.

"He'll be training with them from Friday so that they can get the maximum out of him in the month.

"It's great for him because, while reserve games are good, they are not first-team football."
