Gray left Blackburn to sign for Wolves in July 2007
Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Michael Gray has said his side will have to battle for victories this season, if they want to get promoted.
Wolves have scored more than 30 goals in the Championship and are the top scorers in the Football League.
But Gray, 34, admitted they had to show their battling qualities to return to winning ways at Watford on Saturday.
He told BBC WM: "Every game is not going to be a game where we can pass it around and have it our own way."
The former Sunderland player added: "Everybody thinks that we're a pretty football side who can score goals and look great when we're going forward but we've got battlers in the team as well and we're going to have to show that through the season."
Gray admitted his side need to tighten up defensively after conceding 14 in five games before Tuesday's home match against Swansea.
And he added: "That starts from the front, it's not just the back four and the goalkeeper who are defending, it's everybody and we've got to work on that."
