Murray makes his latest comeback

Matt Murray will begin his latest comeback after 14 months out by playing 45 minutes for Wolves in the Birmingham Senior Cup tie at Nuneaton on Tuesday.

The luckless Murray, 27, has recovered from a cruciate knee ligament injury suffered in pre-season training.

He told the club website: "The knee feels great. I feel as positive as I've been since picking up the injury."

Murray may be on the bench against Bristol City on Saturday, as Carl Ikeme replaces the banned Wayne Hennessey.

But Murray is taking things very much one game at a time.

"The first hurdle is to get back match fit and playing games," he said. "And the second is to try and challenge Wayne and Carl which is probably going to be much harder."

Due to a succession of injuries, Murray has made only 100 appearances in the past six years since his debut in August 2002.

His last senior action was in the final game of the regular 2006/07 season when Wolves won at Leicester to secure their place in the play-offs.

He then broke a shoulder in training the day before the first leg of the semi-final with West Bromwich Albion.

Having recovered from that, ill fate then struck yet again when he suffered the cruciate injury in July 2007.
