Atkinson is tipping Wolves for a play-off run this season
Former Aston Villa and West Brom boss Ron Atkinson has linked up with BBC WM to launch the new football season.
Here he looks at Wolves' hopes of breaking back into the big time and claiming promotion to the top flight.
"I think Wolves are a club where if you can get a couple of glamour players that will excite the crowd and give them heroes," Atkinson said.
"Wolves is a big club with a big crowd, but I think Mick McCarthy will want players that maybe he can develop."
Certainly the Wolves boss has invested in youth by signing teenage striker Sam Vokes and young Leicester defender Richard Stearman, hoping they can follow the path of Premier League target Michael Kightly.
"Mick bought the kid Stearman from Leicester and I think he will go on looking for that kind of signing," Big Ron noted.
"But I think somewhere along the way, ironically, they need a Paul Ince type of player, somebody of that kind of stature to keep them ticking over.
"I'd be very surprised if they weren't in the play-offs."
