Chapple poised for Woking return

Woking chairman David Taylor hopes to secure a major cash boost in the coming months and says former boss Geoff Chapple could also return to the club.

Owner Chris Ingram has said that he wants to sell up when he can find a suitable replacement.

And Taylor told BBC Southern Counties Radio there may be good news around the corner: "It's bizarre, I am working with two budgets for next season.

"One is working with virtually nothing and the other's with major investment."

Taylor confirmed that legendary former manager Chapple has been approached to fulfil a non-football role at the club.

"We're talking to Geoff about coming back as an ambassador," Taylor said.

"And now that Andy Morgan (former commercial manager) has gone, you could put two and two together and maybe get four and think maybe we'd be keen to get Geoff back in that role and we're talking to him about that."

But Chapple, who led Woking to the Conference, enjoyed several high-profile FA Cup runs and three FA Trophy wins, will not interfere with football matters.

"Geoff will not be coming back in any footballing capacity whatsoever - that's the past," Taylor said.

"The future is Geoff helping us in these tough economic times."
