Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has offered new contracts to Emmerson Boyce, Paul Scharner and Mike Pollitt.
Boyce and Scharner played key roles in last season's successful battle against relegation, while Mike Pollitt provided back-up to keeper Chris Kirkland.
And with Kirkland also agreeing a new four-year deal, the offers highlight Bruce's intention to keep key players.
"Sorting out players at the club is as important as bringing in new signings," he told the Wigan Evening Post.
Boyce, 28, still has two years to run on his existing contract, but the new offer highlights his increased importance to the team having become a regular towards the end of last season.
"We're having discussions with Boyce about him getting a new deal - he's done very well here," Bruce said.
"He came into the team during the season and it's hard to remember him putting a foot wrong once he got in.
"Most of the time Boyce was playing at centre half, but in the last couple of games we switched him to right back when Mario Melchiot was injured, and he did well there too.
"As far as the other contract negotiations are concerned, I would think (Pollitt) will sign for another year.
"There's nothing more to report on Scharner as yet, things have gone a bit quiet. Hopefully we can make some progress over the next few weeks."
