Pollitt played in the last game of the season as Wigan beat Sheff Utd to stay in the Premier League |
Wigan keeper Mike Pollitt has signed a new contract running until the end of next season with the JJB Stadium club. Pollitt, 35, spent spells on loan at Ipswich and Burnley last season as he found his chances at Wigan restricted by Chris Kirkland and John Filan.
"Every player wants the chance of Premier League football and I am delighted to be staying," Pollitt told the club's website.
"It's great to have Polly on board again," said manager Chris Hutchings.
He added: "You need to have more than one quality keeper in the squad and he has proved himself to be a Premier League standard player during his time here.
"He had to be patient last year and was unlucky to pick up an injury mid-season.
"He's a great pro, a really valuable member of the squad and a lively character in the dressing room."
