Obinna is an experienced international for Nigeria

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Nigeria international striker Victor Obinna on a season-long loan deal from European champions Inter Milan.

The 23-year-old, who is West Ham's sixth summer signing, spent last season on loan with Spanish side Malaga.

"He's a very good player and can play in many forward positions," said Hammers manager Avram Grant.

The deal for Obinna includes an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

"We have a problem with the financial situation, as everybody knows, the team is in a lot of debt.

"This is the reason we are taking players on loan with options - first because it is cheaper and second because it will be good for us in the future," Grant added.

Obinna has won more than 30 caps for his country and made two appearances at the World Cup in South Africa.

He has been with Inter since the summer of 2008 when he joined them from another Italian club, Chievo.
