Tottenham and Man Utd are among Sheringham's former clubs |
Australian side Sydney FC have dropped their interest in West Ham striker Teddy Sheringham because of his age. Sheringham will be 41 on 2 April and Sydney FC chief executive George Perry says the club had doubts about his ability to cope with regular football.
"We were concerned about his ability to play on a regular basis in the Australian climate," Perry told the Sydney Sunday Telegraph.
"We've got six players we're looking at from the Premier League and Europe."
Sydney are looking to replace Dwight Yorke, who left them for Sunderland.
Perry added: "It would be great to capture another Dwight Yorke. He certainly was very special. We want someone who can contribute on the field and off the field like Dwight did.
"I think it is going to become a lot clearer when the European season finishes."
