West Brom's Cup hero Simon Cox happy to bide his time
Cox has scored 13 times for the Baggies since his move from Swindon
West Brom's Simon Cox does not expect his two-goal salvo in the Carling Cup to propel him into the club's Premier League plans just yet.
The 23-year-old's brace in the 4-1 win over Leicester City came from a more withdrawn role in midfield.
But he knows he will have to wait a little longer before making a start in the top flight.
"That's football - I can't argue because we're doing so well at the moment," Cox told BBC WM.
"Had we been bottom of the table with no points I'd have been banging on Roberto di Matteo's door, but you can't bang on his door now as we're doing really well.
"The lads up front are scoring goals, and the team as a whole is playing well. So I've just got to be patient. That is the massive key for me this season."
The former Swindon striker has scored three goals in the Baggies run to the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup, adding to the 10 he netted in his first season at the Hawthorns.
"I don't like sitting on the bench. No-one likes to sit and watch. Everybody wants to play their part," Cox noted. "When I'm out there I've just got to show what I can do."
With injuries to Peter Odemwingie and Marc-Antoine Fortune threatening to keep them out of Monday's trip to Blackpool, Cox may soon get the chance to add to his 40 minutes of Premier League action.
