Midfielder Graham Dorrans insists West Brom's status as promotion favourites ensures teams raise their game when they travel to The Hawthorns.
The Baggies, who have lost two of their last three home games, entertain a Watford team unbeaten in six away matches on Saturday.
Dorrans told the club's website: "We're perceived as one of the big boys.
"Every team that comes to The Hawthorns raises their game by 10 or 15%. That makes every game tough for us."
The Baggies started the season with a 10-game unbeaten run but have won just one of their last six in the Championship.
"We know it's a tough league but it's important we win our home games - and that's what we'll try to do on Saturday," said Dorrans.
"After our good start it's turned into a stop-start season, with us winning games and then losing.
"But I think that's the way the whole league has been going. Most teams are struggling to put a run together."
